Current & Past > All Things Magical

The Alliance of Pentaphilic Curators is represented by artists Jason Dunda and Teena McClelland. Together, they administrate the Alliance’s mission—to create culture through social exchange with a foundation of five. The Alliance invents contexts through
site, theme, and narrative which invite collaboration within this structure. The results tend to gently critique existing social and art institutional structures in a whimsical and often absurd way. In May 2011, The Alliance of Pentaphilic Curators produced Five Funerals, a mournful celebration of concepts, phenomena, and ideas that have breathed their last. Every Sunday in May (the fifth month, mind you) a cadre of Chicago artists staged a thematic memorial service at The Charnel House, an independent
theatre in Logan Square that was once an early 20th century funeral home.
